Hiphop legend Kama of Kshaka celebrates Madaraka day with Macklemore and his trumpet player OWUOR ARUNGA. (Video)

Kalamashaka might be silent and considered dysfunctional but that doesn’t mean they don’t step up on stage. A third of the trio, Kama , who is currently based in Seattle, Washington, celebrated his Madaraka day alongside fellow Kenyan OWUOR ARUNGA (Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s trumpet player) and NAOMI WACHIRA at the Madaraka Festival in the united States. Kama, through MAHASLAZ TV, shared a clip of him earlier before the perfomance day talking about the Madaraka day event that was held in Seattle.
One Vibe Africa organized the event and had this to say about kama and including him in the mega event: “The music of Kamau Ngigi contains sociopolitical messages that address the struggles of youth in Africa. A renowned East African hip-hop artist, Kamau Ngigi is a member of Kalamashaka, a Dandora-based group that paved the way for mainstream Swahili hip-hop in Kenya.” The event also featured a great speech from Macklemore and an art sale with original work by students and teachers from the port city of Kisumu. All proceeds went to One Vibe Africa and students in Kisumu, Kenya. Watch the speech below:
